Description: This introductory field ornithology course focuses on the birds of southeast Arizona. The course is designed to provide beginning and experienced birders with bird identification skills; a general knowledge of birds; their life histories; behaviors; ecology; and habitat needs. Beginning February 2, 2005 and ending March 2, 2005, the Master Birder Course consists of five 2½ hour Wednesday evening lectures and four Saturday field trips for a total of 40 hours. Program is limited to 25 participants. Cost: $125 for TAS members; $155 otherwise.

Description: The program focuses on Sonoran Desert ecosystems with an emphasis on relationships between plants, animals and the physical characteristics of the desert rather than classification and identification. Days start early and optional activities such as owling, blacklighting for insects, and star talks extend into the evening hours. Cost: $350 for Tucson Audubon members; $375 otherwise; includes park entrance, camping fee, catered meals and expert instruction. University credit is offered through University of Arizona's Desert Ecosystems.
