IMBD Spring Festival to be held at San Pedro House
Join the Sonoran Joint Venture, the Friends of the San Pedro River, the Bureau of Land Management, and the Coronado National Forest for their annual International Migratory Bird Day Spring Festival at the San Pedro House in Sierra Vista, Arizona on Saturday, May 10, 2008. The celebration will include hands-on activities and workshops for children and adults, guided nature walks, hummingbird banding, informational displays and booths, live music, food, and much more.
In addition, this year's festival will also celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the designation of the San Pedro Riparian National Conservation Area. A special ceremony will be held at 11am and all are invited to attend.

SJV Partner receives $1M for Wetlands in San Jacinto and San Diego, California
March 15, 2008: California Waterfowl received $1 million in grant funds to improve 1,200 acres of
wetlands in San Jacinto Valley and San Diego Bay. Beneficiaries of the work
include the Endangered California least tern, the Endangered light-footed clapper
rail, the Threatened western snowy plover and a host of wetland dependant species.
These public and private lands are dedicated to providing homes for waterfowl,
shorebird and other wetland dependant species.
New WHSRN site in SJV Region
The Western Hemisphere Shorebird Reserve Network (WHSRN) Hemispheric Council voted unanimously at its January 2008 meeting in Nayarit, Mexico, to approve two new WHSRN sites, one of which is in the SJV region: Ensenada de Pabellones in Sinaloa, Mexico.
